How to upgrade your current CentOS to latest CentOS 6.5

CentOS-LogoCentOS 6.5 has been released and available in the repository for update. This updated version of CentOS have several bug fixes. In this tutorial I will show you, how to update your existing CentOS to latest CentOS 6.5 version.

N.B: Backup your all important data before proceeding for the up-gradation. Verify your running services and make a list of those.

How to know the Current Version:

For me the output is like below:

Now verify the available updates by issuing the below command:

You should get a output like below:

Now we will start the Update. Issue the below commands to update the machine.

You should get a output like this:

Now issue update command to start the update

The out put should like this:

Now we will reboot the machine to complete the updated process. Issue the below command to reboot the machine.

You should get the output like below

After the system reboot verify your centos version again by issuing the below command:

You should get the output like below

Now verify your running services and important documents. Have fun with you updated version of CentOS.
