How to install and configure DNS (BIND) on CentOS

In this article I will show you how to setup and configure the BIND DNS Server. DNS is very important component of network infrastructure, without DNS we can.t browse a website with host-name. DNS translate human readable hostnames into machine readable IP addresses. BINDis a most popular DNS application.

Now we will install BIND and BIND Utilities using yum:

After installation complete we need to modify the BIND configuration:

Now we need to create the zone files as mentioned in the named.conf file

Restart the BIND service:

Now we will test our DNS server from another instance. Modify the /etc/resolv.conf file from which you want to test:

Now issue the nslookup command
