How to reload new configuration without restarting the Apache

apache-http-logoAfter modifying the configuration files we need to restart the apache to run with the new configuration. I will explain you in this tutorial about how to reload the new configuration files without restarting the apache webserver.

Below option are available with Apache V1.x and V2.x to start, restart, reload and stop.

When you will issue the command “restart” then it will restart all apache process forcefully. But when you will use “graceful” it will send USR1 signal to apache. USR1 signal will restart the child process after finishing their current request. After restarting all the child process the Parent will replace itself with a new child process. By this way end user will not able to know about the restart.
