How to Install ImageMagick on RHEL/CentOS/Fedora

ImageMagick is a beautiful open-source application for Image manipulation like JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF etc. To use this application in various programming languages like PHP, Perl and Ruby you need to install this. Imagick is the simple php extension for creating and manipulating images through ImageMagick. Like Imagick, ImageMagick-Perl is the extension for Perl. You can install rmagick Gem to use ImageMagick with Ruby.

First you need to install php-pear and gcc to compile imagic extension.

then Install ImageMagick, ImageMagick-Perl

Then we will install Imagick extension for Php by issuing following command.

Then we have to add imagick.so extension to php.ini

After adding the extension to php.ini we need to restart httpd (Apache)

To verify the imagick installation issue the below command
